After a fabulous first night dining from the beach I felt great I remember waking up with a real smile on my face (despite the 3:30am jet lag induced early rise) I knew I couldn’t quite start my day just yet but I was itching too so I patiently waited for the sun to rise and I’d been give a lovely room to watch it from too.
I also had plenty of time to find a great spot for breakfast. My favourite space was set out over a pool which we referred to as ‘the island’ by the end of the trip it had become known by our group as ‘islands in the steam’ accompanied with an affectionate singalong.
It had been a leisurely morning and I was beginning to get my baring but it was high time we got (at least) some work done so we met Crystal for our site inspection. I’d been looking forward to this!

The Rose Hall Complex is made up of 3 hotels. The Iberostar Grand Rose Hall is our highest category and is adults only with full access granted throughout the resort, next is the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites, by the end of this year all rooms will have been refurbished. Here guests share facilities with the neighbouring Iberostar Rose Hall Beach.

You can view a full list of activities which include the Star Camp sessions, our Aliveness wellness programme, the la carte restaurant options & spa treatments menu by downloading the Iberostar App the content can be viewed as a guests making it a handy sales tool for travel agents.
The Iberostar Rose Hall Beach underwent a refresh in 2021 and we were able to see several room types across each of the 3 hotels. I knew that I’d love the beach view categories (I always do)
We even witnessed a blessing take place from one of the balconies during our site visit. We have lots of lovely Romance Packages available here and they can each be tailored to create bespoke ceremonies.
Another lovely room type to point out is the tropical categories. These were the rooms found in the most luscious green spots present in all 3 hotels which are surrounded by nature feeling cool & calming. There’s also plenty of options available for two bedroom family suites which are interconnecting.

Next the Jamaica Tourist Board kindly sponsored a trip to climb Dunns River Falls something Ive always wanted to do! I knew I’d manage the climb but I did wonder how I’d make it in one piece… I’m a bit clumsy sometimes and part of me wondered if I’d spend the rest of the trip out of action. My clumsiness often comes from impatience I knew I couldn’t let that get in my way today!

Our guide was incredible he gave encouragement just when it was needed most and pointed out where to step, it was impressive how he knew the terrain like the back of his hand. You can get out safely at any point and despite it being one of the islands most popular attractions there’re many moments where it felt like it was just us and the rain forrest.

The darker rocks are slippiest but with direction you can easily find your way and I found myself growing in confidence with each step. The views were jaw dropping. You’ll need water shoes which you can buy for $10 on site and they also have water proof cases for your phone. Although I took some great shots I was very aware of the need in this moment to be present and to absorb as much as possible using my own senses.
Feeling high on life on the way back we stopped by Scotchies for some Jerk Chicken and began to process the day. I decided that I needed more adventure in my life and wanted to create more opportunities to feel that adrenalin when I got back home. I also needed that Jerk marinade recipe!
I liked that I was starting to think of ways to do things a bit differently. I’ve always loved how travel can help you to see just that.
to be continued.
